I know this may sound crazy but remember how in No Way Out, Sonic told Nine that he still considered him to be a friend while getting down on one knee and Nine calmed down? Later in Nineās Lives, Nine says āTypicalā when seeing Sonic run to the others and accused Sonic of betraying him when Sonic called the others his friends.
Nine was sort of acting like Sonic proposed to him and then cheated on him by being friends with the others.
Okay so first of all, I don't think you're crazy. During S3 there's actually plenty of evidence that Nine is jealous, both of the Tails variants and Sonic considering everyone else his friends.
One example that presents his specific kind of jealousy is during Episode 2 of Season 3, when Nine first appears to Sonic in New Yoke.
"Everything is collapsing... This is terrible!"
"Is it? That seems odd coming from you. As far as I can tell you only care about your own home."
Essentially what I'm getting at is this. I do believe that pre betrayal, Nine admittedly considered Sonic to be the most important person to him, and thought Sonic may have felt the same way. And the "betrayal" at the end of S2 hurt Nine very deeply. He had this image of Sonic in his head that was shattered by the finale, so he sort of instinctively switches to thinking the worst about Sonic because he can't trust that anything he thought before wasn't a lie. This is one of the reasons that he can't fathom Sonic caring about shatterspaces other than his own home.
But it's not just that he can't fathom it, it's that due to this deep hurt, Nine cannot allow himself to believe it.
Because if Sonic genuinely cares about the shatterverse as a whole, if he genuinely cares about saving all of these people, then to Nine, what made him the exception?
Sure, we the audience can see Sonicās journey in Prime. We can see that by the end of S2, Sonic wanted to keep the shatterverse safe just as much as he wanted to bring back Green Hill. He wanted everyone to be alive and happy. But from Nine's pov here, he's just learned that Sonic lied to him, spoke honeyed words and manipulated him just to get to the prism. None of that is true, but he doesn't feel like Sonic actually cares for him or wants him. So at this point, for Sonic to put saving all of these people over saving his own home or genuinely worrying about their home makes Nine feel like the exception or that his feelings about Sonic must be wrong. Either one of those ideas he'd understandably like to avoid (because one means that Sonic is genuine with everyone except for him, and the other would mean to him that his feeling of betrayal and hurt feelings post S2 finale are misplaced and not allowed to be had, though he feels justified feeling hurt)
And that scene in S3 E3 No Escape is actually another big exemplifier of Nine's brand of jealousy and just how hurt he is.
"Don't worry. Beneath the surface, my new friends are far simpler than the flawed creatures you knew and loved. And all the more loyal for it."
Starting out strong, Nine takes a not so subtle shot at Sonic's friends while taking subtler shot at Sonic's loyalty, since Sonic had been his first and only friend.
"Ever wonder where we'd be if things had gone differently between us?"
"...Not anymore."
"I do. All the time."
"Not anymore." Implying that post the S2 finale he really had dwelled (at least for a time) on thoughts of how things could have been different. How he wished things could have gone differently.
And Nine gets visibly angry/frustrated when Sonic confesses he's always thinking about how things could have been different. Perhaps because it feels like a slap to the face, or feels hard to believe.
"Tch. You had your chance."
"...Right back at ya, bud."
And then, despite his anger, despite how he's been trying to get Sonic all along so he can drain his energy and save his home, Nine ignores Sonic's "should we get this over with". He puts on another one of those faces, similar to earlier when Sonic arrived and Nine talked about his "new friends". Perhaps to cover up exactly the way he's feeling in this moment with a veneer of superiority (he always did something similar when talking up Sonic to the Chaos Council).
"You know...after all this time...I think I finally understand you, Sonic."
...
"You wanna save everyone. Friends. Foes. Total strangers! You say it's because you're a hero and that's what heroes do, but deep down... After what you didādestroying your own homeāit's the only way you can ever live with yourself. Even if that means you won't live at all."
And while I think Nine isn't incorrectāthat there is a part of Prime!Sonic who's been acting out of selfishness, caring more about feeling like a good person than actually being oneāthese are still words from someone who feels betrayed by Sonic. I think there's a level to which Nine is seeing a part of Sonic no one else did, and also to a level which Nine is trying to recontextualize Sonic's more heroic/selfless seeming actions so he can reconcile them with how he feels about Sonic and sees him at this moment. In other words, while he's seeing a facet of Sonic he didn't see before, this is not all encompassing of who Prime Sonic is. It's just that perhaps by believing that Sonic's every seemingly selfless action is disingenuine, that all those nice words and intent to save people is just so Sonic can feel good rather that actually caring about anyone, then Nine doesnāt have to feel like the exception. Then he can see Sonic as someone who is pretending to care about all of this, and Sonic's other friends as fools who don't see what he (Nine) has seen.
But as I said, it's more complicated than that. Perhaps Nine is seeing a facet of Sonic that other people don't see or don't want to see, but Prime!Sonic is multifaceted. Perhaps he does want to hurry up and sacrifice himself in this scene because then he can finally feel like he's atoned for what he's done and he's absolved of/paid for his crimes, but that also doesn't mean he doesn't genuinely care about the lives of people in the shatterverse.
"If I don't make it, and you do, how do I know you'll keep your promise."
"Don't worry. Your 'friends' are safe. Once I have your energy, I can restore everything. They can have their silly lives in their silly spaces, as long as they leave me alone."
"Fair enough."
...
"And for what it's worth...I wouldda done the same for you."
"Don't lie to me..."
"I'm notā"
"DON'T!"
"Think whatever you want, but it's true. Even after everything you've done, everything we've been through. Together. Against each other. You're still my friend, Nine."
I really couldn't express more just how hurt Nine feels. That he doesn't believe Sonic would give anything up for him, even if he were to accept that Sonic would do that for everyone else. When he tells Sonic not to lie to him, frustrated, angry, voice wavering, I think it's because he can't take this again. If Sonic is lying just to manipulate him, if this isn't genuine, if he's just using him again, he can't take it again.
This is an incredibly intimate scene. With Sonic, standing face to face to Nine, inside Nine's safe space, his home that no one else has been into, behind the physical representation of the walls surrounding Nine's heart post betrayal, this is his first time all season really being allowed to speak to Nine directly. Here there's no one to perform to aside from each other.
But you can see that despite everything, Sonic still reaches Nine in this scene. It's not easy, but he reaches Nine's heart, leading Nine to start to believe in him again.
And that's why it's a pity the other variants show up when they do, using Sonic to breach Nine's walls. With the way Nine reacts after this happens, Sonic may as well have made Nine believe in that image of him again. Sonic may as well have made Nine believe that Sonic does care about him, that he'd do anything for him (or, at least, would give his life for him like he would for the others if it meant they could live), only to be the trojan horse that allowed the enemyā¢ to breach his safe space. The pretty lie.
At the beginning of S3 E4 Nine's Lives, Nine says "Predictable" when Sonic runs over to his friends. And, as anon mentioned, Nine says that Sonic has betrayed him for the last time, calling the deal off.
I wouldn't necessarily say here that Nine feels as if Sonic had cheated on him so to speak, but I would say that even if Nine doesn't see Sonic as a willing "trojan horse" here, Nine still feels like a fool for "falling for it again", for believing in Sonic. I think it's enough betrayal to Nine that Sonic would convince him that he cares about him and wants him to have a future too, only to then side with a bunch of people who want to beat Nine down and who would not let Nine be happy if Nine surrendered to them (from Nine's pov at least).
So in short, anon, I think you are seeing Nine's jealousy here. Even if he also has to believe Sonic is secretly fooling the others, to him this is a scene where Sonic is not only choosing them over him, but another example of Sonic (from Nine's pov) proving that he's a liar who doesn't care for Nine or his future/safety at all.
#sonic the hedgehog#sonic prime#sonine#nine the fox#nine sonic prime#miles nine prower#sonic prime s3#sonic prime s3 spoilers#anon interview#i just be ramblin#long post#I just want to note also that Nine also calls the deal off because the other variants become aggressors in this situation. He told Sonic in#the deal that he'd leave everyone else to their devices as long as they left him aloneā but then right after this those same 'friends'#breach Nine's walls of safetyā clearly planning to attack where Nine's most vulnerable. The deal was broken before Nine could uphold it#and to top it all offā Sonic doesnāt make everyone stand down or defend Nine to them. The entire group gets to flex their power in front of#Nine (similar to how previously Nine would do the same to convince Sonic to surrender)#and Sonic expects Nine to believe that his surrender will lead to peace. Funnyā since the other variants can't believe Sonic's surrender#would lead to peace either#It's just kind of tragic that Nine would have felt better about Sonic had the other variants not showed up. And yetā even if Nine and Sonic#had the chance to perform their dealā even if Nine kept his promiseā the rest of the variants would never leave him alone#And Sonic wouldn't be around to help Nine. Nine wouldn't even have the prism or his walls to protect himself.#Okay okay I've got lots more thoughts and things I can dig into but best to leave all of that for the season 3 portion of sonine prime#Thank you so much for this ask anon! I really do love me an excuse to talk about Sonine and dig into their individual characters. I'm also#not over S3 so the chance to talk about it some was much appreciatedšš#And if you or anyone else has any other questions pertaining to Sonineā their charactersā thoughts on individual scenesā or anything else at#allā feel free to shoot me another ask!š„°

I remember you saying you had some thoughts on Morro being a less effective version of Tai Lung from the Kung Fu Panda movie. Do you have any more thoughts on that :o
Quick introduction, both Morro and Tai Lung are students who turned evil much to the of their old teachers (Wu and Shifu respectively). If you watched Kung Fu Panda 609 times as a child like me, you probably caught on that Morro's character was taken whole cloth from Tai Lung.
Now let's get into the details!
So Tai Lung and Morro have two parts to their character: the threat/villain aspects, and the tragic relationship/falling out with their mentor.
As a villain, Morro works pretty well. Possessing Lloyd establishes him as a threat both emotionally and power wise, since he's taken someone the ninja care for deeply and robbed them of their most powerful member in one swoop. I always kind of thought of him as the dark version of Lloyd, but heās really more of a āWhat season 1 Kai could've beenā, further supported by Kai's unyielding determination to protect Lloyd this season, contrasted against Morro literally using Lloyd as an actual meat puppet and casually threatening to kill Lloyd to get what he wants.
Heās threatening, hateable, and thematically appropriate as a villain.
As for his ātragicā relationship with Wu, wellā¦despite general fandom opinion, it's actually pretty weak.
Tai Lung's screen time is dedicated to building up how powerful of a threat he is, outside of two key scenes that establish and build on his relationship with Shifu. The first is a flashback that happens somewhere around the half point of the movie. Reveling that Tai Lung was groomed to work his entire life for a role he ends up being denied point-blank recontextualizes the audience's feelings about Tai Lung. Up to that point he was presented as just some dangerously power-hungry villain, but now that the audience knows that Shifu has a personal connection to Tai Lung, and that changes their feelings on both of them.
The second relationship-focused scene is the penultimate fight between Tai Lung and Shifu. Before the combat, the two of them have a conversation that is just loaded with tension, and that tension stays prominent for the rest of the fight. The audience obviously doesnāt want Tai Lung to win, but watching Shifu attempt to take down the child he raised with his whole heart doesnāt exactly feel all sunshiny. Everything from the dialogue to the dark and rainy atmosphere (later heavily contrasted against Poās triumphant fight in the rising sun) is meant to emphasize the heaviness and tragedy of the fight, building the flashback and Shifu's character growth to twist the knife in the audience's heart.
On the surface, Morro works similarly, spending the majority of his screen time being built up as someone that needs to be stopped, outside of two scenes that focus on his relationship with Wu. While Tai Lung's flashback happens in the middle of the movie, Morro's is told in the second episode of the season. Changing the timing of the flashback changes the effect it has on the audience. Instead of establishing an evil scary guy and then going āoh wait, thereās also this other important aspect to himā, we see the more human (literally) side of Morro almost straight away and then spend the remaining 80% of the season showing how evil he is. If Morroās backstory garnered any sympathy from the audience, it will inevitably be overshadowed by the proceding 8 episodes of Morro doing nothing but make selfish choices. Doing Morro's flashback earlier has the exact opposite effect that Tai Lung's flashback had on his story.
Also worth noting that while a large part of Shifuās characterization comes from his hand in Tai Lungās fall (his cold relationship with his new students, his need for control, etc), Ninjago shifts the fault more so onto Morro as a person:
Wu: After I told him he could be the Green Ninja, there was a hunger unmatched.
Morro: (He kicks some of the other trainees, making them fall. Aggressively) Get up. Get up!
Wu: Enough.
Morro: But Sensei, I'm gonna be the Green Ninja. I need greater tests.
Wu: I said, enough!
Kung Fu Panda meanwhile feels no need to shy away from the idea of Tai Lung's actions being the result of Shifu's failure as a teacher. In fact, it embraces it:
Tai Lung: Not your fault!? Who filled my head with dreams? Who drove me to train until my bones cracked? Who denied me my destiny!?
...
Shifu: I...I have always been...proud of you. From the first moment I've been proud of you. And it was my pride...that blinded me. I loved you too much too see what you were becoming...what I was turning you into...I'm s-...I'm sorry...
Ninjago doesnāt completely kill the vibes, itās still understandable that Wu would be sad a student of his didnāt turn out well, but lessening the responsibility Wuās bears for the way Morro turned out gives their relationship a lot less weight than Shifu and Tai Lungās, and lessens the impact their relationship had on Wuās character compared to Shifuās. They do retroactively imply Morro's reaction was the reason Wu never told his new students about the green ninja prophecy, which is kind of neat, but Wu doesn't really seem to be affected by his relationship with Morro beyond that.
They're not showcasing Wu being affected by the soured relationship, or building up any kind of emotional conflict about having to oppose his old student. The fact that this season's antagonist is Morro doesn't make Wu behave any differently than he would with any other run-of-the-mill Ninjago villain.
Shifu's character, as I mentioned earlier, is felt in pretty much every moment he's on screen. You can feel his fear of history repeating itself in everything from how frugal he is with praise for his students, to the sheer panic in his voice anytime he and Oogway talk about Tai Lung returning.
In fairness to Ninjago, Shifu was a character made entirely for that movie and nothing else, so his character was built from the ground up with his relationship with his student in mind for the whole process, while Wu is an already existing character in an establised franchise (that's also on a much smaller budget than a Dreamworks movie *ahem*), but they aren't really trying to build up the relationship between Wu and Morro outside over the course of Posession at all, outside of the two specific scenes I mentioned.
Speaking of, thereās the final scene between mentor and student that both charaters share. For Tai Lung, this was a fight, and for Morro, it's a redemption, and I don't think the writers considered how that key difference would affect Morro's story very deeply. Morro and Tai Lung follow the same structure of building up how evil and threatening they are until their ultimate defeat, and since Tai Lungās story wasnāt building towards redemption, neither does Morroās. This is fine for Tai Lung, because the emotional climax of his story is acceptance of the tragedy that his and Shifuās shattered relationship is completely and totally beyond mending. Not only that, but it mainly takes place over a fight. It makes sense to just continuously ramp up Tai Lungās threat level.
Morro on the other hand, completely switches sides at the last possible second of both his life and the season. With no buildup, his redemption feels very sudden and insincere. This guy whoās been plotting around the same obsession he had as a child for decades, kidnapped and possessed a child, put in the work to literally rewrite destiny, and made deals with satan/hell herself just decided āActually Iām good now okay byeeeeeee!ā in the space of two seconds?
Tai Lung and Shifuās fight crushes your soul a little. Morroās redemption just leaves you going āI guess that happened?ā
They ripped off Tai Lung and only got him half-right.
#lego ninjago#ninjago#kung fu panda#morro#tai lung#shifu#to answer your question#yes i did have some more thoughts on that#Honestly writing all this out i donāt hate morro#Heās a fine villain who flopped the final note#Itās fandom building him up and praising him to be far more than he was that annoys me#This was actually a really fun ask to answer thanks for sending it#I very much enjoy kung fu panda and complaining about fandom favourites#So it was really fun to dig into both of those :)#Hey ayone feel free to shoot me an ask anytime i say iām gonna make a post you think sounds interesting#I cannot be trusted to make the pots i say i'm gonna make :P

"Personally I have a slightly different relationship with disability pride, because for me, even if the outside world became this accessible, accepting utopia, there would still be days where I just feel too ill to get out of bed, and that sucks and I'm mad about it. But I'm not ashamed, and I'm at a point where i won't make other people make me feel ashamed either. And I am proud of myself. Even if I woke up tomorrow miraculously cured, disability has informed who I am. It will always be a part of me and I am proud of that."

Hmm. Peppermint for bingo
the thing with peppermint is there are kind of two peppermints to me?
pre-nccts peppermint as-voiced-by-katie is a being so fascinatingly, hilariously, suffocatingly rancid that i felt the need to take a breather at one point when the streams originally aired and still wince going back to her scenes, an erratic obsessive creep armchair psychologist writer and masochist on a constant dizzying sugar high who happily rejects all adherence to social contract in devotion to an evil god she's actively stalking who wants nothing to do with her in pursuit of an escapist fantasy she's projected onto him. (red candy)
nccts peppermint as-written-by-ryan is a particularly unstable cringe sad wet newly crowned old god in a box all alone with abrasive and obsessive tendencies over shipping, fandom drama and her own opinions about character writing to the detriment of her ability to engage positively with the 'real world' (Relatively Speaking) outside of those lenses, her derealization and her tendency to treat other people as fictional objects to project her desires onto in violation of their boundaries only being worsened by Prism's enabling of that mindset and her possessive and obsessive desire for a tooth-rotting archie-andrews ass romantic fantasy with Crimson, but she's observant and sharp and self-assured enough to stand her ground when she realizes she's being manipulated with the promise of companionship and to not waver in her conviction that Prism is wrong. (green candy)
these arent at all incompatible, in fact they read to me as two parts, almost two perspectives, of one greater whole, but they are pretty noticeably distinct in their focus execution and tone, i think?
she's still a creep, but ryan doesn't always sell it as hard or as strongly as katie did, often leaning on common (and thus usually less shocking and by extension less effective due to not hitting as hard) 'unpredictable viscerally lonely yandere' trope stuff. Or maybe the written medium just dampens its effect- hard to explain what specifically makes katie's pep character voice so Offputting, i cant imagine it's easy trying to translate it into text without losing some of its offensive punch when you lose the element of vocal delivery, im not sure how id do it. Havent gotten to the most potent ncct pep stuff in the reread we've been doing yet, my opinions' subject to change, maybe shes worse than i remember, lol
if peppermint's character premise is summarized and boiled down to the absolute basics as 'creepy and obsessive parasocial fan of the sport' then katie put the emphasis on 'creepy' and 'obsessive' and ryan put the emphasis on 'parasocial fan of the sport' to better use her as a character that reflects the concept of fandom and position her as being on the side of characterization over strict narrative structures and expectations for the nccts' metanarrative thematic purposes, you get what i mean?
marking 'couldve been a great character if handled differently' is admittedly kind of misleading when what i really mean is 'i hope these takes on her character maybe get synthesized a little more going forward now that prism's arc villain era in the nccts is effectively over and the narrative actively problematizes her violative and antisocial behavior more again because shes less interesting to me when its treated as inconsequential in the grand scheme of things as it kind of mostly is after ncct2, and that her loneliness and the roots of how she is and why are explored more.' alas the bingo board is written in past tense. None of this is a criticism really just kinda observations of the disconnect that sometimes comes into play when a character is really Made by their voice actor in a way thats sorta lost in translation to another medium and to the hands of another writer with different goals.
All this being said, i like her! In a show about identity and connection and our responsibilities to ourselves and eachother when living in community with others, a character defined by loneliness, disconnecting from other people and their own reality and sinking deeply enough into themself and their eccentricities and what little they DO find connection through to the point of lacking consideration for others' existence as full, real people, reducing them to picking them apart as though theyre storytelling tools, trying and struggling by navigating the world around her as though its the fiction she loves with no REAL consequences, until she upset someone badly enough to be forced to consider them as a real person with feelings (relative to her as. Also A Fictional Character,) is a really interesting character concept for a metanarrative arc of the show, and her being manipulated by the godly 'author' into being her lackey through a sense of companionship and enabling that perspective on the world by letting her in on the in-universe Cosmic Secret that their world IS a fiction to someone, us, the audience... its pretty fascinating, especially because she only falls for the lie in it for so long. It does matter. It may not be real, but it does matter. And she took us believing in her so close to heart...
#looking forward to disc and peppermint evil girlbesties unraveling time at the seams š#ive never been as obsessed with her as some folks are. but i Do find her interesting#so if i seem like ive missed nuances or something feel free to shoot me#(...an ask pointing them out lol)#theres a lot of characters in this show and pepperming kinda bounced off me im ngl.#like i enjoy her and her role but she is not a frequenter of the brain carousel

would you ever be open to selling any of your older unused sonas? apologies if this is a rude question!
not a rude question!
i have definitely thought about it a lot, i'm just unsure how to go about doing it.
a lot of them are very, very much still me or majorly parts of me, so i'd wanted some light changes to be made to the design / names / ect, but i don't have the time to go back and do that myself. i'm also unsure what to charge for them.
if anyone has interest in an old 'sona i haven't used in like a year+, they're open to private offers! i'd just like to discuss aforementioned changes before selling
#ask#anon#like. for example. i think i'd like to sell hyacinth the bee#and rome the bull#and um#many more#but i'd want like. my beauty mark to be removed#...i think that might be the only hard set design change i'd request lol#idk. SOME of them are more sentimental than others even if i dont draw em anymore#but#if anyone has their eyes on specific unsused sonas feel free to just shoot me a dm with an offer!

For the artist ask game Iād like to ask questions
11. Do you listen to anything while working? If so what.
And 29. A piece of media you enjoy but arenāt inspired by.
11. Do you listen to anything while drawing? If so, what?
It varies! Sometimes I'll put on a stream in the background, but most of the time I'll just put my entire library on shuffle, and that's an assortment of tracks from a wide variety videogames with a handful of metal and alt rock songs thrown in here and there. Occasionally, there will be something specific I want to listen to, and I'll end up finding a 10 hour loop of it on youtube or something, almost always video game music again. If I'm really trying to buckle down and get something done, writing especially, I'll put on the Subnautica soundtrack, either the complete thing, or a loop of one of the panic songs. Not entirely sure what it is about Subnautica specifically that gets me to work, but hey, if it works, no need to change it!
29. Media you love, but doesn't inspire you artistically
Thats a really difficult question because how exactly are we defining what it means to be artistically inspired? Do we mean I read/watch/play the thing and immediately go "oh I need to make art for this?" Because if that's the case, there are a LOT of things that I absolutely love that I have never been artistically inspired. On the other hand, if by artistically inspired, that means just gives you some vague idea of something you could potentially make, then almost everything I enjoy has inspired me in some way or another, either just in "oh I could make fanart for this," or in "that's a very cool idea that I'd love to explore in more detail," or even just in somehow spawning only tangentially related ideas that could potentially be worked into their own things with enough time. I'm always looking for new ideas ideas in the stuff I enjoy, because I know I enjoy it for a reason, and I'd like to figure out what it is so that I can make more stuff that I enjoy, if that makes sense.
#ask game#i am constantly trying to learn and grow as an artist and author from the media i enjoy#and everything ive ever drawn or written has in some way been inspired by something#i have a ton of bits and pieces of original story ideas that are really just amalgamations of bits and pieces of everything else ive enjoyed#that said if u were hoping for something more specific as in a media recommendation of something i enjoy but have never made fan content for#feel free to shoot me another ask or dm! i have So Many book and videogame recommendations id be happy to share.#and some movies too though i dont watch a whole lot of movies

What would movie Tails think about Tails Sails Mangey and Nine?
Hohoho...
Just to warn you in advance then, my answers will be a mixture of canon interpretation and headcanon.
ć
¤
Prime!Tails:
First impression:
I think in the case of Prime Tails, he'd largely see the similarities and be like "Oh! We're the same!" Whether it's a first meeting or meeting him from afar, I think he would have a healthy mix between seeing him literally as another him, while also wondering just how similar they actually are.
After getting to know him:
At this point, Movie!Tails would know just how similar and different he and Prime!Tails are. Ultimately though I think he'd be surprised by how similar they turned out in personality and image regardless. Other than that, I think Movie!Tails would be jealous that Prime!Tails' Sonic actually saved him from bullies and that they've been able to adventure and be best friends for so long. Movie!Tails would probably hope his relationship with Sonic could become as strong as theirs one day, while also taking it as a sign that it will be.
ć
¤
Sails:
First impression:
Definitely "A pirate me?" I think he'd wonder how Sails became a pirate or whether he was just kind of born into it. If they get a first meeting though, I think Movie!Tails' first impression would be that Sails is surprisingly nice for a pirate (not that Sails is usually nice to the first random people he meets (*cough* the first meeting with Sonic *cough*) but Movie!Tails doesn't know that). He would find him friendly, and he'd assume that Sails' contraption is exemplary of him still being a tech/mechanical guy in this universe.
After getting to know him:
I think he'd still consider Sails a pirate version of himself, but he'd see that Sails isn't necessarily a peach either. He's still a pirate, and he still itches for excitement, but he's also loyal to his crew and his friends, something that movie!Tails can respect.
Now, Prime never really gave us backstories for anyone other than some of the New Yoke variants. Personally, I like to headcanon that Sails was an outcast on his island, and he was in a bad spot when Dread first found him. I like to headcanon that post his initial failure to get the Devil's Lighthouse, he still couldn't ditch the sea life. So, though he wanted to put himself in a position where he'd never zero in on that treasure and hurt people again, he still needed a crew to continue the sea living. With this, the idea is that Dread picked up his crew members out of bad spots and offered for them to join his crew. Under this framework, my personal headcanon is that it was Dread that saved Sails (either by directly confronting his bullies or by taking him in while he was in poor spot health wise in the wake of his treatment as an outcast). If this was the case, I think Movie!Tails would be surprised at the knowledge that this world doesn't have a Sonic, but he'd definitely be able to relate to Sails. I think he'd be able to understand why being a pirate on the Angel's Voyage is home to him by relating the similarities in their lives.
Anyhow, the tech/mechanics thing. With getting to know him, Movie!Tails would find out (as Sonic did) where his strengths lay. Sails has a natural talent for it of course, but he gets his start in "contraption making". His world does not have the same technology as Movie!Tails' world.

Mangey:
First impression:
I must admit, if he watches how Mangey acts out of context, his first impression would probably be that Mangey is "me but crazy" or have questions about his intelligence level. As long as Movie!Tails doesn't present himself as a threat and make a bad first impression on Mangey, though, in a first meeting he'd probably thing of Mangey as a sweet little thing.
After getting to know him:
If you spend a while with Mangey you get to understand who he is and his situation better, and Movie!Tails is no exception to this. He may even feel a bit ashamed for assuming that Mangey was "crazy" or "savage". While he can't personally relate with Mangey quite as well as he could with the others, I think he'd still be able to relate with that idea of having found home. I also think he'd logically end up learning of Mangey's inate technological talent as well and would patiently learn how to communicate with him. Not that any of that is easy, it's just that I think at some point Movie!Tails would "see the signs" so to speak and realize that even though Mangey is different and life is different for people here in general, he's still a person with thoughts and feelings. I can also see him apologizing for how he initially saw and/or treated Mangey.

Nine:
First impression:
It depends upon what era of Nine's life Movie!Tails sees him in or meets him in. In general though, I think he would see Nine as "me but a villain" at worst, and "bad end me" at best. Nine is a version of himself who is isolated and also doesn't have a Sonic, so though Movie!Tails' opinions are dependent on how much knows at this point, I can see him at baseline feeling a bit sorry for Nine. Even if he thinks Nine is a bad guy who caused all of these problems, I think he would baseline feel sorry after imagining a possibility in which Nine was him.
Idk. Like I said his opinions would be very context heavy. If his first impression was like. S3 Nine at his worst, I can see him sort of shutting down the empathy center and just seeing him as a bad guy. But if he's just seeing him pre-meeting Sonic, being bullied or trying to stay isolated, he would just straight up feel bad for his living situation. It's...nuanced.
After getting to know him:
I think in a way the level to which he relates to Nine would be a little scary. It wasn't scary with Prime!Tails because the two aren't terribly different on the surface. Just two people who met Sonic and became heroes in a bit of a different way.
But if he learns Nine's story, where Prime!Tails' story is interesting in it's similarities and differences, a story that holds shared happiness in finding someone like Sonic to look up to and relate to, Nine's story is more terrifying in the ways Movie!Tails relates. In its most basic and shallow form, Nine's backstory is exemplary of what would happen if there was no Sonic (or if there was no one who would save Tails from bullies or inspire him). Even before meeting Movie!Sonic, Movie!Tails was already a tech and mechanical guy. We know he straight up had traps and weapons in his backpack, he'd developed the Miles Electric, and could fly a plane. With Nine's story as reference, I personally headcanon that if Movie!Tails hadn't started watching Movie!Sonic live and become fixated on him as someone he could relate to, he would have had a similar end as Nine (code: just trying to isolate himself from others so he won't be hurt again).
Essentially, I think that if Movie!Tails got to know Nine's story, it would probably shake him to see what might have happened had he never learned about Sonic, and had he eventually taken it upon himself to get rid of his bullies permanently. And I think if he knew how things turned out for Nine by the end of Sonic Prime, he would feel very sorry for him (both for his great loneliness and in not being able to be around Sonic or really, truly at home).
In other words, complicated feelings. Nine's reality would probably make him feel uncomfortable, but in the end, Movie!Tails would want for him to be happy and truly "home" as well.

Thank you for the ask, anon! While I see most versions of Tails as surprisingly judgy (surprisingly in the way that they can be a bit surface level and dependent on first impressions), I think especially when it comes to other versions of himself Movie!Tails would become more sympathetic or empathetic upon actually getting to know them. And since none of these four are really bad guys at the end of the day, I think he'd be willing to see them subvert his initial impressions of them.
#sonic the hedgehog#tails the fox#sonic prime#sonic movie#sonic movie 2#nine the fox#mangey the fox#sails the fox#nine sonic prime#miles nine prower#sails sonic prime#miles sails prower#miles mangey prower#movie tails#i just be ramblin#anon interview#good tldr here is that the first impressions are largely surface level but he'd become more empathetic/understanding after getting to know#them. The similarities between him and Prime!Tails would be comforting#and he'd be jealous over some of the differences.#The similarities between him and Nine would be scarier and uncomfortableā and in their differences he'd feel both glad he didn't turn out#the same way and sorry that Nine doesn't have the same things he (Movie!Tails) has.#If anon or anyone else has any other questions they'd like to ask pertaining to these characters or anything elseā feel free to shoot me#another ask!š„°#Something I also didn't really mention in the body of the post is that no version of Tails to me is a 100% pure good guy through and throug#So with Prime!Tails for exampleā the surface level bit is him wondering whether his appearance is completely genuine or whether he's a bit#more...secretly morally grey#long post

From ;; send emojies for what kind of dynamics you want to plotĀ // Currently Accepting
Broker and Quackerjack: šš š platonicĀ + š partners in crime
I sadly don't actually have a ton to say on this in this post but !! I am very down to plot more for this / work to have it become a thing. From the bit of what we discussed I think they could be neat acting as platonic partners in crime. As long as she can put up with him being, well, him then they're probably golden to be set on track for that lol.
Morgana and Darkwing: ššš š actually unrequitedĀ + š platonic + š enemies to friends
Enemies to friends I'm down for since that's basically in the canon for '91. Having any existing romantic interest be unrequited and things being platonic I'm also perfectly fine / happy with since I'm not huge on Morgwing due to how it is in canon. I think '91 Darkwing and Morgana feel better as friends anyway and actually getting to explore a friendship with them is something I think would be pretty neat. I've never really been able to do that before since I either never seen anyone who writes her so it's really cool to actually meet n get to interact with someone who does !!
Morgana and Darkwing 2017: ššor š? š platonic + š actually unrequited or š falsely assumed unrequitedĀ
Platonic relationships I am, of course, always down for. Same goes for ones with unrequited feelings.
As for falsely assumed unrequited I think it could be interesting since '17 Darkwing doesn't have a Morgana in his universe. Though, I'm assuming for this one it'd mean one has feelings for the other, assumes it to be unrequited, but it is in reality mutual or develops to be mutual ? If you hadn't meant this when sending that one then feel free to let me know and correct me on what you meant. But ! If that's indeed what you meant I think it could be interest. Though, with anything romantic I do, it's a "let's see if it develops" too since I don't like to promise mutual romantic interest between muses. Never know what might happen or if something might effect the ability for there to be romance.
